Barbara Dare from Wayne, New Jersey, and then, New York City, posed for 57 covers, 12 photosets, and 45 videos, before retiring in 1994. She was led to the porn industry by her swinging lifestyle in New York City. She became such a fixture at the sex club Plato's Retreat in the early eighties that she was named "Miss Plato's". Barbara began appearing in adult films in the mid-80's and also making regular appearances in magazines such as Hustler, Swank, and High Society. In 1989, she joined fellow adult film actress Stephanie Swift as authors of a monthly article for Swank. Dare quickly became a top adult film star. Dare appeared in scenes with several top adult films stars, including Tracey Adams and Ginger Lynn (Ginger Allen). She became one of the first women in the industry to sign an exclusivity contract with a studio. She would later leave that studio to sign with Vivid and become one of the earliest Vivid Girls. Dare has dated both men and women and has kept her personal life mostly private since retiring.
